Ikea's £1.3 million Family Forest with Woodland Trust

Ikea has teamed up with the Woodland Trust, to grow its family forest.

Every time customers swipe their Ikea Family loyalty card, 10p will be donated to Woodland Trust, which is the equivalent of a square foot of woodland. So by shopping for interiors you can make the outside world look a little nicer too.

Over four years Ikea hopes to raise at least £1.3 million, which would create 452 acres to add to the Woodland Trust’s existing 50,000 acres.

To kick-start the campaign Ikea will donate a foot of forest for each of its 9,000 employees.

Sue Holden, Woodland Trust’s chief executive said: ‘The UK lags way behind the rest of Europe when it comes to tree cover so IKEA and its customers can genuinely help us make a big difference to the UK landscape. We are also looking forward to inspiring IKEA Family members to get out and enjoy our stunning woods, open to the public all year round.’
